Kafue & Lower Zambezi Combo

Fly into Livingstone, where you spend the first night at Maramba River Lodge on the outskirts of Livingstone and just 4km from the entrance to the falls. There is a restaurant on site, and a whole host of other activities can be arranged here – from river cruises to microlight flights over the falls. Accommodation is in an ensuite chalet and includes breakfast.

From Livingstone you will take a road transfer to Kafue National Park – spend the next 9 days exploring this park. Head first to Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp in the south of the park for the first three nights. Nanzhila offers excellent opportunities to see the healthy populations of a number of antelope species including Roan and Sable, Reedbuck, Defassa Waterbuck, Oribi, Hartebeest and Eland as well as all the major carnivores, with a particularly strong population of Wild Dog and Cheetah. The raised, thatched Boma is situated under the shade of a huge Jackelberry Tree and houses the lounge and dining area, with a stunning and elevated view of the dambo.

Transfer through the park to KaingU Lodge, where you spend the next three nights. Kaingu is situated overlooking the Kafue River in the Namwala Game Management Area. Accommodation is in a tented chalet and includes all meals and activities. The focus at Kaingu is the river and its beauty, and trips of various lengths can be done on the river from the lodge, as well as game drives in the wildlife management area. Kaingu has recently been completed refurbished and has to be one of the most relaxing places in Africa.

The following three nights are spent in the famous Busanga Plains area of northern Kafue. Transfer by road from KaingU to Chunga airstrip and from there you will take a light aircraft transfer to Busanga in the north of the park. The unique wetland ecosystem covers 720km² of palm groves, papyrus-choked reed beds and lily-covered lagoons supporting an abundance of wildlife and bird species.

Ntemwa-Busanga consists of just five thatched en-suite chalets which have open-air en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilets and a bucket shower. A main raised deck area overlooks the plains.

Transfer by light aircraft to the Lower Zambezi National Park, where you spend three nights at Kutali Camp. Kutali Camp is a comfortable tented camp offering a luxury experience whilst maintaining the charm and ethos of a seasonal bush camp.  Featuring just 5 guests tents, each carefully located for the best views of the Zambezi River. The Kutali tents are bespoke and very comfortable, with high quality linen and mattresses, alongside flushing toilets, running water taps and traditional bucket-showers!

The Lower Zambezi has some of the finest wildlife viewing in Zambia. This, coupled with the variety of safari activities on offer, make for a memorable safari experience. High densities of elephant, large herds of buffalo and impala along with all of the large predators one might expect – lion, leopard and wild dog are well represented here.

Transfer by light aircraft back to Lusaka where you spend the final night at Pioneers Safari Camp before your flight out the following day.
