Start and end at the world famous Victoria Falls. Discover the ancient city of Great Zimbabwe. Explore the scenic beauty of Nyanga and Lake Kariba. Get close to the wild in Mana Pools and Hwange National Parks.

This itinerary only has four nights camping with the rest in comfortable lodges / guest houses.

Day 1

Fly into Victoria Falls and transfer to spend the night at Lokuthula Lodge, 4km from the falls and next door to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge and the famous Boma restaurant. The Zimbabwean side has approximately 2/3 of the fall’s frontage and the falls are easily viewed on foot.

Day 2

Collect your vehicle in Victoria Falls and drive to Bulawayo where you spend the night at Traveller’s Guesthouse.

Day 3

Drive to Masvingo where you spend the next night at the Lodge at the Ancient City – a unique hotel built around a granite outcrop in the same style as the nearby Great Zimbabwe ruins. The Lodge integrates seamlessly with the surrounding trees and boulders of the site with dry stonewalling and soaring thatch structures.

Days 4 – 5

Head east towards Nyanga spending the next two nights at Troutbeck Sun Resort. This inviting hotel is perfectly positioned to explore the scenic beauty of Nyanga and savour the crisp mountain air.

Day 6

Head north to Harare the capital of Zimbabwe. The Monomotapa Hotel is an iconic figure on the Harare skyline and is a convenient base for visiting the historical sites and museums in Harare.

Day 7 – 9

Drive to Mana Pools, where you spend the next three nights at Nyamepi campsite overlooking the Zambezi River. Mana Pools is a beautiful park, with Mana (meaning ‘four’ in Shona) referring to the four large permanent pools formed by the meanderings of the Zambezi. The river and its islands, sandbanks and pools, flanked by forests of mahogany, ebonies and baobabs make for picturesque scenery.

Days 10 – 11

The next two nights are spent at Caribbea Bay Resort on Lake Kariba. Caribbea Bay Resort is an ideal base from which to explore this unique part of Zimbabwe.

Day 12

Make your way south, overnighting at Pamuzinda Safari Lodge near the town of Chegutu.

Day 13

Spend the next three days in the Hwange National Park. The first night is spent at Kennedy – a great spot for wildlife and where you are guaranteed to have the site for yourselves.

Days 14 – 15

The following two nights are spent at Kapula camp, a self-catered tented camp.

Hwange National Park occupies roughly 15 000 sq km and game sighting is excellent in the dry winter months from June to October.

Day 16

Return the vehicle in Victoria Falls and spend the final night again at Lokuthula Lodges.

Victoria Falls has a lot to offer the visitor and is known as Africa’s adventure capital. From high adrenalin activities like white water rafting to more sedate pastimes like viewing the falls by helicopter, Victoria Falls has it all.
