Travel south to north through Kafue National Park and you will be amazed at the variety of scenery and habitats in this pristine National Park. Explore the open plains of Nanzhila, listen to the haunting cry of the Fish-eagles of Lake Itezhi-tezhi, meander along the river at KaingU, search for the iconic Pangolin in the woodlands around Mayukuyuku, as well as enjoying a trip to Busanga Plains – a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

Day 1

Fly into Livingstone and spend the first night at Maramba River Lodge – 4km from the falls. There is a restaurant on site, and a whole host of other activities can be arranged here.

Day 2 – 3

Pick up your vehicle in Livingstone and head to Kafue. Drive first to Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp in the south of the park. Nanzhila offers excellent opportunities to see the healthy populations of a number of antelope species as well as all the major carnivores, with a particularly strong population of Wild Dog and Cheetah.

Day 4

Make your way north. The next night in Kafue is spent at Konkamoya Lodge – an owner run lodge on the banks of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi in the southern regions of the unspoilt Kafue National Park.

Day 5 – 6

Drive north through the park to Kaingu Lodge, where you spend the next two nights. Kaingu is situated overlooking the Kafue River. The focus at Kaingu is the river and its beauty, and trips of various lengths can be done on the river from the lodge, as well as game drives in the wildlife management area.

Day 7

Continue north to spend the next night at Mukambi Safari Lodge in a beautiful setting overlooking the Kafue River.

Day 8 – 9

Head for the remote Busanga Plains in the north of the park, where you spend two nights at Mukambi Plains Camp – a seasonal bush camp deep in the heart of the famous Busanga Plains, a stunning wetland area.

Day 10 – 11

Drive back south ending your trip through Kafue with two nights at Mayukuyuku Camp. The camp is very relaxing and peaceful, just downstream from a number of small rapids facing a small island where the river fans out, with spectacular views in many directions.

Day 12

Leave Kafue and make your way east to Lusaka where you return the vehicle before spending the night at Pioneer Camp to the east of the city.
