Nxai Pan South Campsite

Nxai Pan is a grassy pan and its grasses attract large numbers of game after the rains. In the dry season game the waterholes are the focal point. The waterhole is worth spending time at, especially late in the afternoon. Nxai Pan is where the IMAX film “Roar – Lions of the Kalahari” was made, and much of the footage was shot here. The roads around Nxai Pan itself are smooth, and most of the roads around the pan are good for game viewing. Wildlife seen at Nxai includes both impala and springbok (the only place in the country where these two species occur naturally together). Predators are common too as well as giraffe and smaller game such as jackal and bat-eared fox. The campsite – South Camp – is situated on the edge of the pan around a grove of tall shady trees, and the two ablution blocks provide hot showers and flush toilets.
